Online Figurative Inlay Weaving Workshop

Service Description

Learn to design and weave figurative inlay on 4+ shaft looms with Asheville textile artist Emelie Weber Wade. In four 40-minute zoom sessions, participants will learn inlay basics and how to transform threads into figurative art on the loom. PM COHORT: Each session will be held on Mondays at 3 pm EST, with recordings sent to participants. Participants will get the most out of this class weaving along, but students without looms are welcome to participate. No drawing experience or prior art experience is required. This virtual workshop does not cover weaving basics, like how to dress the loom. Monday, June 1st: INTRO~ inlay basics and where to start Monday, June 8th: PLANNING~ cartoons, patterns, and materials Monday, June 15th: WEAVING~ strategies and special inlay techniques Monday, June 22nd: Group critique and discussion of finished pieces, in progress weaving, and ideas for future figurative inlay textiles.
