Online Figurative Inlay Weaving Workshop

Service Description

Learn to design and weave figurative inlay on 4+ shaft looms with Asheville textile artist Emelie Weber Wade. In four 40-minute zoom sessions, participants will learn inlay basics and how to transform threads into figurative art on the loom. OCOTOBER MONDAY COHORT: Each session will be held on Mondays at 3 pm EST, with recordings sent to participants. You do not have to have a loom dressed before class starts. Many students like to start dressing the loom after the planning session. No drawing experience or prior art experience is required. This virtual workshop does not cover weaving basics, like how to dress the loom. Monday, October 5: INTRO~ inlay basics and where to start Monday, October 12: PLANNING~ cartoons, patterns, and materials Monday, October 19: WEAVING~ strategies and special inlay techniques Monday, October 26: NEXT STEPS ~ finishing and exhibiting inlay art + optional group critique of finished, in progress, or idea-stage weavings.
